The House of Happiness | London's Revolution in Sober Clubbing cranks up the Noise! 😎πŸ₯³πŸŽ΅πŸΉπŸ₯‚πŸŽΆ

‘The House of Happiness’ logo for the Sober Clubbing venture: comprised of neon words which form ‘The House of Happiness’ along with a roof and chimney shape above the lettering. The neon words and symbols have a brick wall backdrop which provides the appearance of a sign to a nightclub.

Sober October saw House of Happiness hit the dancefloor at Electrowerkz with their feisty Housewarming debut. Next Saturday  Fire & Lightbox is set to Ignite with House of Happiness Flamboyance!!!

And it's an alcohol/substance-free Buzz all the way!

The Sober Clubbing challenge

When Steve Strange and the Blitz Kids took clubbing to celebrity standards - risk was sown into their post-punk outfits!

It was 1980, and prejudice was easily provoked. But the New Romantic look, along with outlandish clubbing costumes became a media sensation.

And although the menace of thick Teds and seething Skinheads was never far away... neither were certain sedatives and stimulants.

(some things change after four decades, some don't)

But there's always a fresh approach to the highs and lows of any era.

‘Sober Curious’ neon sign keeps with the House of Happiness nightclub theme

'Sober is the new FUN!!'

And it's easier to believe than it sounds!

Here's why.

House of Happiness aims to be 'free from drama or crappy attitudes' - and how such scenes spring to mind from drunken sideshows on a typical night out! 😬

That's not to suggest the organisers have never touched a drop (or whatever unit of whatever intoxicant) πŸ˜‡

Just that there comes a point when the magic of clubbing kinda stems from enjoying the atmosphere itself.

And that takes a stack of planning by a top team to set the perfect stage ✨

The House of Happiness Experience

An obvious challenge exists when alcohol provides 'permission' to be yourself - especially among strangers and flamboyant ravers!

And aren't most of us pretty reserved without a couple of pints, shots or substances best left to the realm of speculation?

Here's where House of Happiness have you covered every step of the way.

And it starts with a clear policy where 'everyone is welcome as long as you welcome everyone in return'.

Which means you're at an actual club! 😁

And that's a huge step forward from typical venues where toxic characters are crammed shoulder to shoulder and leer to ear!

There's also the option of a half-hour pre-meet at a nearby cake and coffee outlet.

Then a good glittering while you queue (again an option) πŸ˜‚

So by the time you reach the dancefloor you're among friends and ready to RAAAAVE!!!

The Spirit of the Blitz lives on... in Sober Style!

That's been the experience of both exhibitionists and devout introverts alike.

A cautious visitor to the Housewarming bash speaks for many a clubber who lacks dancefloor moves and/or tendency to chill without booze:

"The event was so bloody wonderful... the fact the main rave room was darkly lit made it a lot easier for me to feel comfortable with dancing... but with the magical powers given to me by being face-painted and glittered I managed to let my proverbial hair down.'

An LGBTQ+ Led and Delivered venture

The House of Happiness aims are high but happening:

'We want to create a space where YOU, our guests, are FREE to be themselves; to dance, express & LIVE YOUR BEST LIVES!'

The venture sets the stage for leaving anxiety at the door. And while the vibe may be chilled, the policy is strict to keep it that way:

'Everyone is welcome but we have NO TOLERANCE for any of the following: homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, racism, ableism, misogyny or any other similar bullshit.'

So keep it nice or take your issues elsewhere - seems fair and order of the day!

Meanwhile, feisty Events Manager, Neil, sums-up the clubbing scene today:

'Sober spaces are rare. As are truly inclusive queer spaces. Both are needed. We are here to combine both along with a damn good time πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰'

DJ Line-up: December 17th

Saturday's set sees PoppyLDN return to kickstart the event at 12 to 1.30pm

Then Harry Gay makes his House of Happiness debut with a hot & heavy mix until 3pm.

That's when HoH co-founder, Emma, hits the decks as Baroness with 'uplifting vocal house to get those bodies moving' πŸ•ΊπŸ‘―‍♀️πŸ’ƒ

There's even a Soundcloud preview to get you in the groove right now!

A well-stocked Sober Bar! 🍺πŸ₯‚πŸΉπŸΈ

House of Happiness is supported by leading NoLo drinks brands such as Strykk, Lucky Saint and Clean Co.

So you can still have beers and spirits to hand for that Clubbing Feel - and Taste!

NonAlc blends and brews have leapt in quality over recent years. Even a style of 'kick' and mouthfeel (unique to alcoholic beverages) is making its way into many tipples, along with decent flavours of course!

The Strykk range of non-alcoholic spirits: 4 bottles in a line facing the camera: Not G*n, Not R*m, Not V*dka and Not V*dka Vanilla

And there are more adventurous brews making their mark among NoToLow beverages.

Such as award-winning FUNGTN - a craft beer brewed from mushrooms (and no, it doesn't taste of them!)

Other NoLo drinks available on Saturday include Haelu, which offers a botanical 'blend of adaptogens, vitamins and minerals, known to boost your mood and help you feel relaxed and sociable.'

And the particularly popular Horny Goat should keep energy-levels in fine fettle on the dancefloor!

Just SIX DAYS to go!

And third HoH co-founder/Manager, Janey, expects the event to be:

'EVEN better than last time, cos it's Christmasssssss and we are going FESTIVE AF!!!'

The excitement is certainly brewing on social media for Saturday 17th. And a 'Full-on clubbing sesh - banging tunes, a buzzing time and all the highs without the loooows atmosphere'.
